Twitter or Twit?

I am not convinced about twitter, actually I think it's pointless. However, some people I respect rave about it. It seems to be one of those things you need to try for yourself, so I've decided to give it a two week trial to see what I get out of it (yep, it's all about me). If you are using twitter, look me up, my ID is 'rossmason'. It would be great to hear comments from other people about what they think about it. In the meantime I'll be posting my progress here.

Ah, you have just started too? I have been hearing about it all these while but have only finally started it last week as I wanted to keep track of my friend's travelling foot steps. I'm also using it to update my Facebook status.

I actually found you from Keith (Brophy)'s Twitter.

The Atlassian folks have been using it pretty heavily and I was surprised that they even use it for JIRA Studio:

Hey Ross,
It's been over 2 months since you decided to try Twitter. Well...?

I'm interested because I saw a presentation at the Dr. Dobbs conference on using Web 2.0 techniques to improve project management, documentation and communication, and Twitter was suggested as a way to track project status. I'm not 100% convinced, but I'd be happy to hear otherwise!

Tim,
Not sure Twitter is good for real project tracking since its pretty unstructured, but I have just blogged about why I like Twitter: http://rossmason.blogspot.com/2009/01/why-twitter.html
